Richard Norris is the Director of the Scottish Health Council, which promotes patient focus and public involvement in the NHS. The Council produces guidance, standards and toolkits for participation, and provides practical support through its 14 local offices across Scotland. The Scottish Health Council also monitors and quality assures NHS public engagement activities, and is a part of Healthcare Improvement Scotland. Previously, Richard was Director of Policy at the Scottish Association for Mental Health, where he was in charge of policy analysis, campaigns, information, research, and communications.
Prior to this in the 1990s Richard was Chief Executive of the Centre for Scottish Public Policy, an independent centre for policy development, based in Edinburgh. Richard has also in the past tutored in Politics; worked in the printing and insurance industries; and served on the board of a community development company.
