Professor Jan Clarkson, core partner for Dental Health
Professor Jan Clarkson is Co-Director of the Dental Health Services Research Unit, University of Dundee, working with a multidisciplinary team focusing on implementation research and the delivery of UK multi-centre RCTs in primary care.
As Joint Co-ordinating Editor of the Cochrane Oral Health Group she leads the production and publication of systematic reviews in dentistry. As Director of the Scottish Dental Clinical Effectiveness Programme, funded by NHS Education for Scotland, she is responsible for the production and dissemination of guidance for dentistry. A unique implementation research framework TRIaDS (Translation Research in a Dental Setting) has been embedded alongside SDCEP guidance development. With the Scottish Dental Practice -Based Research Network she has created a research laboratory that involves most dental practices in Scotland and findings of TRiaDS have changed policy. Currently the generalisability of TRiaDS methods is being tested in pharmacy and optometry jointly led by Craig Ramsay from HRSU.
