Professor Helen Cheyne, SISCC Lead for Maternal and Child Health
Professor Helen Cheyne is Professor of Maternal and Child Health Research at the NMAHP Research Unit and the Royal College of Midwives (Scotland) Professor of Midwifery.
She is the lead for maternal and child health on the executive group of the Scottish Improvement Science Collaboration (part funded by the Health Foundation) and Chair of the Iolanthe Midwifery Trust. Her research interests are in maternity service delivery, postnatal care and healthcare decision making. She has successfully undertaken large scale trials and evaluations, for example she led the realist evaluation of the Scottish Government maternity programme Keeping Childbirth Natural and Dynamic. Working closely with practicing midwives and mothers is a key aspect of all of her research. She led the recent Scottish national maternity care survey in partnership with the Scottish Government patient experience programme.
