An exciting opportunity is available for NHS staff in Scotland (Midwife, Health Visitor, Nurse or Allied Health Professional) to apply for a seconded clinical academic research fellow (CAF) post within the Mother and Infant Research Unit (MIRU) in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Dundee. This role provides an opportunity for a registered health professional with an interest in developing a clinical research career in mother and infant health.
The successful applicant will contribute to the research programme and work with research active staff in the Mother and Infant Research Unit. The post-holder will be part of the academic community of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences with opportunities to contribute to the School research strategy, and to teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
MIRU’s research is structured around four broad themes: infant feeding; quality and organisation of maternity care; marginalised and vulnerable women and families; and global midwifery education (see https://www.dundee.ac.uk/nursing-health-sciences/research/mother-infant/).
We are looking for a graduate health professional (normally with or working towards a Master’s degree). Applicants should have a desire to develop clinical academic skills in research and demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to developing and applying evidence to policy and practice to improve maternal and newborn health and care.
The secondment will be for a fixed period of 12 months in the first instance with the possibility to renew for a further 12 months. The post will normally be 0.5wte and be based in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. The School is looking for this post to commence in March/April 2019. Development for the successful candidate will be focused on the individual appointee’s needs and will include an induction and orientation programme and the ongoing support of an identified mentor.
